We just upgraded our editing computer at work from a Mac G5 to the all new MacPro. The original goal was to upgrade to the newest version of Final Cut Pro but we walked out of there with this beast of a computer (and the Final Cut Pro upgrade)

I've been having trouble transferring over all of the files from our G5 to the new machine, but I should have it working soon enough. The computer is ridiculously fast (Quad-Core!) and with the option to run windowsXP along with OSX - it should get quite a bit of use.

Enough geeking out - Time to get back to animating...

I have the time... but I don't... ya know? I've neglected this blog for a few weeks... but things are good! At work, we are in full production on a flash mobisode/webisode project for Warner Bros. It's been overwhelming - we're about 85% done with all the design work and I'm dipping into animation a little bit. A handful of artist have been chipping in on the project with us. One very talented artist named Dermot O'Connor has been working here in the studio. He has shown me some great techniques for character set-ups that I can't wait to implement.

I've been in pain for the last few weeks.Sometime over the Christmas break I hurt my back. I fell asleep on my couch one night and the next day my back was really sore. It's been two weeks since then and it still hurts! Last week I went to a chiropractor for the first time. A few other employees have gone to this chiropractor and I heard nothing but great things about their experiences there so I figured - why not?

The first day I went they had me fill out a stack of papers and took some xrays of my back - $50. The following day I was supposed to get the results of my xrays - but, the xray printer was busted so they just did an alignment on me. The most interesting part was the vibrator to the spine. It's essentially a hand-drill with two finger-like prods on the end of it instead of a drill bit. He warned me it may feel a little weird before he started pressing it along my spine but I had no idea what I was in for! Just after he got past the middle of my spine he hit something that caused all of the muscles in my back to spasm! If you've never felt this before - its really weird! Its sort of like an ultimate tickle spot. After it was over, another $50. I was told to come back on Friday for the results of my xrays and my 2nd adjustment. I didn't feel any better the rest of the week and was hoping the xrays would shed some light on whats going on. Friday rolls around and the xrays showed nothing abnormal. Ugh.

As soon as I got back into the studio I called and made an appointment to see my primary physician. At least she could give me some drugs, right? I was lucky and got in to see the doctor that same day. I didn't get to see my normal doctor but instead seen a woman who could possibly be the most beautiful doctor in Los Angeles. She came walking into my room wearing knee-high boots, a short skirt and a lab-coat. For a moment I thought I had to be on candid camera or it was some kind of joke - but she was the real deal. I left with a prescription for Soma and an all new fantasy ;)

It still hurts - but the drugs certainly help relax the muscles. I've been stretching throughout the day, taken some calcium and magnesium pills and I've been using a heating pad at night. My bad posture on the computer all day and at home are finally catching up to me!

Other than my back and work - things are routine. I've been spending way too much time messing with my iPhone - I love it! I went down to Rand and Carolyn's in Santa Monica on Saturday. The McMichaels, Rand and myself had a nice afternoon eating tacos, drinking margaritas and shopping. We had a few drinks with Carolyn once she got home (down at Renee's bar) and eventually it was time to head home. It was a nice day ;)
I promise more photos next time!
